Since 1989, Rovos Rail has redefined luxury rail travel, earning a global reputation for crafting extraordinary journeys across Africa. Its bespoke train safaris blend breathtaking landscapes with the elegance and romance of the golden age of rail.

With journeys ranging from 48 hours to 16 nights, each connects travelers with Africa’s most iconic destinations. The beautifully restored, wood-panelled trains accommodate up to 72 guests in 36 exquisitely appointed suites, each featuring en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and classic Victorian-inspired décor. Gourmet dining onboard, paired with South African wines, elevates every moment.

Rovos Rail also offers private charters and an exclusive Events Train for up to 250 guests—ideal for celebrations, corporate incentives and bespoke occasions. Guests may combine shorter and longer routes to create tailored itineraries or explore themed journeys that pair Rovos Rail’s routes with other exceptional African experiences.

As part of the Rovos hospitality collection, travelers may also enjoy St James Manor Guesthouse, a century-old coastal mansion offering six antique-adorned suites, Persian rugs and extraordinary views of False Bay. Located on the prestigious “millionaire’s mile” and steps from vibrant Kalk Bay, it is an ideal sanctuary for guests seeking refined privacy, personalized service and exclusive-use accommodation in an elegant seaside setting.
